Who is Alamy?Alamy Images is a web-based stock image library representing thousands of photographers and collections around the world. Alamy sells online so you can download quality photography quickly at a fair price. How are you associated with Alamy?My association with Alamy is simply that I am a contributing photographer and they handle the sale of my work. Why Alamy?I chose Alamy to be by primary stock library because they offer you a fair price, a quick purchase and guaranteed quality. At the same time Alamy allows me to update and add work quickly while retaining a fair commission. How do we create an account with Alamy?On Alamy's front page click "Create Account". The process takes a minute and will give you access to pricing, watermark-free comps, support and more. It is of course, free to create an account. |

Can we purchase directly from you?Generally, I would prefer if you deal directly with Alamy as they have the support staff, toll-free numbers in North America and Europe, credit card facilities and so on, and will be able to make your purchase quickly and easily. However, if for some reason you would like to purchase directly, please contact me via email. May we have larger comps without watermarking?Of course. Once you have created an account with Alamy (which is free and takes a minute) you will be able to download comps to use in your mock ups. What resolution are your images?Generally, they are a minimum of 5000 x 3333 pixels which would give you a print of 16" x 11" or 42cm x 28cm at 300dpi. However, this is a minimum, and most images are higher resolution. Alamy will indicate the largest available resolution and will also guarantee the image quality. |

Rights Managed or Royalty Free?Images purchased from this site are available either through Rights Managed (also known as Traditional Licensing) or Royalty Free (RF). Choosing the right licensing model is important for financial, ongoing use and legal reasons. When you select a Rights Managed image your price is calculated according to use. The factors include the size of the end image (for example, full page), placement (for example, cover of magazine), industry (for example, tourism), distribution (for example, North America), duration (for example, 1 month), number of copies printed and other factors. When you select Royalty Free licensing the cost is calculated on the resolution (number of pixels) of the image that you purchase. For example, if you want to buy an image for use on a website the resolution of the image you buy is likely to to be far lower than if you were to buy an image for a full page print. Once you have purchased the usage rights to a Royalty Free image you may then continue to use that particular image without paying further licensing costs. As a result, Royalty Free images tend to be more generic than Traditionally Licensed work. Is Royalty Free always less expensive?Not always. As Royalty Free (RF) pricing is based on the size (pixel resolution) of the image that is sold. A high-resolution RF image may be several times more expensive than a small print run of a Rights Managed image. Alamy Images will help you find the correct licensing model and image resolution. |

Can we buy exclusive rights?On some images, yes. Alamy will list my images according to the licencing I have selected for that image. On many of the Rights Managed images exclusive rights for a region and duration are available. This may be important if you don't wish to run the risk of simultaneous use of the image by another buyer. How much do your pictures cost?This depends on a number of factors. Alamy have a quick price calculator that will enable you to select the image and work out the cost with no obligation to buy. Are your images model and property released?Some are. Alamy will indicate if a particular image has model and/or property release. Obviously, you do not require a model or property release in most countries for editorial work. Do you have images that aren't on ZHERO.COM?Yes, of course. If there is a topic or region that I have images of but not the image you want just send me an email and describing the image you want. I will have a search through my archives and send you possible options. |
